Harry Potter - Which house do you belong in?

Consider this a heads-up.  This is a Harry Potter related post.  I'm a fan, a late-to-the-party fan, but a fan all the same. I didn't grow-up reading the novels, or watching the movies.  All of my Harry Potter experience is from adulthood.

(This post contains affiliated links.  Meaning that I may collect a share of the sales or other compensation from the Amazon links on this page.)

I'm since read all of the novels (bought the pretty box set to display on my bookshelf), watched the movies, collected some display items and puzzles, and visited Universal Studios in Florida. All of my Harry Potter, Universal Studios, park pictures have one thing in common - I'm holding a delicious, frozen butterbeer!

**Teaser**  This trip will be featured in a future post.

To start, which house have you been sorted into by the Pottermore website?  I'm a Slytherin. Although, I've retaken the quiz, because this sorting was from a few years ago, and I was sorted into a different house.  Are you happy with the house that you were sorted into?  Have you recently re-taken the quiz and received different results?  Do you buy the merch?

This is the contents of my collection:

Pic 1:

  • Harry Potter baseball hat (Universal Studios)
  • Niffler Funko Pop
  • Albus Dumbledore Funko Pop
  • The box from the Wizarding World (J. K. Rowling) Loot Crate (features a patronus & scene)
  • Bookends (From Loot Crate.  Closer pic further down post)
  • T-Shirt (Counter Curse/Dark Arts. From Loot Crate)

Pic 2:

**Missing from pics** Marauder's Map Heat Reactive Mug, World of Harry Potter Puzzle & DA mini notebook from Loot Crate, Niffler key chain and a Platform 9 3/4 key chain from Universal Studios (I tried to gather everything. But, it appears that HP has expanded to every corner of our home and I missed a few items)

As mentioned, here is a closer look at the bookends from Loot Crate

Well, that's all for now.  I need to go put everything back in it's place.  Thanks for reading :)

Later days,
Jen

  2. I love Harry Potter so much! I've been wanting to go to Harry Potter Universal Studios for so long, so I'm excited for your upcoming post on it. My fear has always been that they'll add something new right after I go, so I've been waiting to make the trip there. Also I can't believe it's taken me this long to take the quiz to see what house I'm in. I just took it and I'm a Gryffindor, which I'm happy with x

    1. It's worth the trip! They just took down the dragon hanging coaster and they are building another. If your planning on visiting, wait for that ride to be open - it will be worth it from what I seen on YouTube.

  3. I love Harry Potter as well - I was an adult (well still am haha) when the books came out and I resisted at first but then when I started reading them, I LOVED THEM! I have also been to Universal Studios and enjoyed it very much. My nieces got wands but for some reason we did not get butter beer, makes me sad to this day! I loved the movies and was sad to see it all end but like any good book, it is always there when we need it! :)

    1. All good things must come to an end. The line for butter beer can be pretty long at times. So that may have been the part of the reason. It easy to walk past while taking all the sites in.

  4. I've only watched one of the Harry Potter films, and gotten about halfway through one of the books, so I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I do admire what a franchise it's become and how much it's brought people together. I remember taking part in the Pottermore hype when it first came out because it was hyped up by everyone on the internet, and being able to achieve that from a single series of books is amazing! I must admit, a small part of me would love to visit Harry Potter World at Universal Studios, just to see what it looks like. From that one photo alone, it looks like you had an amazing time!

    1. You are right, the series has accomplished so much! To the point you can walk up to most people and say what house you belong in and they know it's Harry Potter. Lol

  5. I love Harry Potter! It'll always be a part of my childhood that I won't forget. I want to visit Harry Potter theme park in USJ one day but the place is always packed with people.

    1. It's amazing and if you can go, it's worth it! We go intentionally in the off season because there is less people around than at busier times.

Sci-Fi on the Rock

Hi folks, Last weekend myself and Mandi attended, and hosted an event and panel at this years Sci-Fi on the Rock  for our Welcome to Deadhouse  Goosebumps book club ( #GBCGhostNextDoor on Twitter). This adventure all started with suggestions from our spouses. So, we came up with a few ideas, went through the application process and waited. We are new to the event and panelist, and our YouTube book club is under a year old - so we figured that we didn't have much of a shot of being accepted.  Then the email came. We were accepted as panelist. For both ideas that we submitted.  Oh snap! Oh snap! OH SNAP! Planning the panels was super fun.  We love the Goosebumps series and we were able to create a plan that we were both happy with.  The "Reader Beware, You Choose the Scare!" event was first - it was the first evening of the event, and scheduled to be 2 hours long. Here we read through the Diary of the Mad Mummy, and backtracked 4 times to get 4 diff...

October Staycation

This past week my hubby and I had a staycation.  We love Fall - and it's for this reason that we always take a week or so off to enjoy it. During our week off we gorged on Little Caesars Stuffed Crazy Bread and Cinnamon rolls (nom nom nom carbs lol). Purchased a few new aquarium inhabitants, including 3 snails, 3 Odessa Barbs, 3 Skirt Tailed Tetra Glowfish, and a Kheli Loach. So far, one of the Tinfoil Barbs has tried to immediately pick up and eat the loach, and tried to pull a snail off the glass of the aquarium. We are doing fish counts daily until the Tinfoil Barbs lose interest. We also took a drive through Swift Current to Marystown to do some sightseeing. Along this route are a few lookouts.  We did stop at one of them, however, the binoculars that were stationed here were broken (maybe sandblasted by the wind sweeping over the area?)   There seems like there is nothing special about this area.  But, this is the only area of thi...

Maternity Leave - thus far

Life with a newborn is busy, but honestly - I thought that I would be busier. The weather this Fall has been amazing! It's making is easier to get out with the little guy - walking, shopping, playgroup and movies. There is so much to do and it's how I break up the days. We're grateful that there is a family resource center close by that has free drop-in activities for infants, toddlers and up. Meeting new moms who have a little one close to the age of mine is fantastic. Aside from socializing with other adults (which you miss when not going to work daily), you get to ask questions, share experiences, and get to know people that you may be seeing throughout the school year when the littles are older.  And, our movie theater has baby and parent movies every week. There are two new movie offerings each Wednesday morning, and the movie starts at a decent time - which allows time to get me and the little ready for the day and out the door.  Maternity leave here in Ca...
